Equality and Diversity groups

The Trust has several groups in place to oversee Equality and Diversity issues:

Equality and Diversity and Dignity Steering Committee

responsible for leading monitoring and evaluating Equality and Diversity work within the Trust. This group is chaired by Tom Bennett (Director of Operations) and the vice chair is Helen Balsdon Assistant Director of Nursing Patient Experience . The Executive lead for service equality and diversity in the Trust is Ann-Marie Ingle, Chief Nurse and David Wherrett, Director of Workforce is  Executive lead for workforce equality and diversity . The steering committee regularly reports the Trust board and the Quality Committee and the Workforce and Education Committee

Equality and Diversity Staff Group

Originally set up as a BME Staff network in 2001 this was expanded to cover all protected characteristics. A staff group network of diversity champions that meets bi monthly to promote and address  workplace and service equality issues  and act as staff advocates. This is Chaired by the Trust E&D lead Monica Jacot, Project Manager

LGBT and Straight alliance

A staff group of LGBT staff and straight staff allies launched in 2013 on IDAHOT with a Rainbow balloon race  to promote LGBT equality that meets quarterly and is chaired by Stephen Pye, Training Manager ; Monica Jacot E&D lead is Secretary.

Learning and Disability Working Group

Chaired by the Deputy Chief nurse  Membership includes the Trust's learning disability specialist nurse, patients with learning disabilities and their carers with other external agencies including the Learning Disability Partnership. The group works to improve services for patients with learning disabilities.

Vulnerable Adults Working Group

Chaired by Deputy Chief Nurse
