Dr. Richard Baird graduated with degrees in Social and Political Sciences (Cambridge University, 1994) and Medicine (London University, 1997). After gaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, he undertook a translational research fellowship in Professor Paul Workman's group at the Institute of Cancer Research before completing specialist training in Medical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London and Surrey, UK. Dr. Baird gained further experience in running early phase clinical trials during a Senior Clinical Research Training Fellowship at the Royal Marsden Drug Development Unit. In September 2011, he was appointed to a faculty position at the University of Cambridge, as Academic Consultant in Cancer Therapeutics, and Honorary Medical Oncologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital. He is chair of the Association of Cancer Physicians New Consultant Group, and is the UK lead investigator on a number of early phase clinical trials.
