Help us protect our patients and staff

23 January 2012

We are seeing a rise in the number of cases of norovirus – the bug that causes diarrhoea and vomiting – in the hospital and the community.

We need to stop the spread of this bug and protect our patients,
staff and relatives. Relatives, carers and friends are being asked to visit only if
essential:

  • visiting restrictions are in place to help protect you and our
other patients – a maximum of two adult visitors
(relatives/carers) per patient are allowed from 15:00-17:00
    and 19:00-20:00
  • children should not visit the hospital because many schools
are experiencing cases of norovirus and it’s important to try
and limit the spread of infection
  • please do not visit if you have had sickness or diarrhoea in the
last 48 hours or have been in close contact with someone who
    has been sick
  • all visitors must wash their hands thoroughly with soap and
water on entering and leaving the ward

Thank you for your support in helping us restrict the spread of this
virus, it is greatly appreciated.
