An epic walk has been organised to raise money for Addenbrooke's staff who saved a woman involved in a bus crash. Rob Holmes hopes to raise 1,000 from a sponsored 60-mile stroll from Cambridge to Ipswich. Mr Holmes' wife, Lisa, sustained terrible head injuries after falling under a bus in Ipswich earlier this year. She was treated at Addenbrooke's and has since retuned to her Suffolk home.
The fundraiser, dubbed Long Walk Home, took place over August Bank Holiday weekend and also generated cash for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Mr Holmes, 36, was joined by friends and family along the way.
Before setting off, Mr Holmes said: "I am really pleased with how the fundraising is going. We would love to get the 1,000 for Addenbrooke's Hospital. "We plan to stop and camp overnight and arrive back in Ipswich on Monday (25). We are going to be having a birthday party for our daughter Ciara. She will be 18-months-old but we never got to celebrate her first birthday because of the accident."
