Addenbrooke's Clinical School Panto 2008

The Apprenticitis

Staff and students will be treading the boards in the annual Addenbrooke’s Clinical School Panto.

The Apprenticitis is a light-hearted look at the NHS and follows the fortunes of medical school students desperate to land a job. Instead of traditional application forms, the new junior doctors at Addenbrooke’s will be chosen by a competition.

Among the cast is Dr John Latimer, Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist. He said: “The best and the brightest of the 2006 intake will battle it out to become the Dean's right hand man or woman. The hand-picked group of hopefuls includes the beautiful wannabe surgeon Belle Anitis, the dashing, but rather dim, Al Bicans and the cultured yet arrogant Wolf Parkinson-White. But all is not as fair as could be. There are some in the group who would pervert the course of the competition for their own ambitious ends. An evil Sub-Dean hopes to secure the job for her nephew and will go to any lengths to make sure he wins."

The Addenbrooke’s panto has been running for 17 years, raising thousands of pounds for the hospital.

Dr Latimer added: “This year, we're fundraising for The Rosie Maternity Hospital. Help us make it another successful year by coming to our production and have the chance to win some amazing prizes, as well as watch a brilliant show full of slick medical humour."

The Apprenticitis is at The Mumford Theatre, East Road, Cambridge from November 18 – 22. Tickets are £10 (£6 concessions) from the box office on 0845 196 2320 and Tolly’s Flowers in the hospital concourse.
