Staff at Addenbrooke’s are set for a day of pampering, thanks to students from Cambridge Regional College.
The first De-Stress Day at the hospital will offer free massages, pedicures and manicures to help staff unwind and relax. De-Stress Day is proving hugely popular, within an hour of being advertised all 120 places were snapped-up. Such was the demand, free massages are to become a monthly event.
De-Stress Day is on Tuesday November 4 – the day before National Stress Awareness Day. The event has been made possible thanks to the generosity of CRC which is supplying beauty therapy students completely free of charge. The students’ good work will not only de-stress staff but also aid their training.
Activities have been arranged as part of Addenbrooke’s Life – an initiative to encourage healthy wellbeing among staff.
Bonnie Watson, from Addenbrooke’s Life, said: “De-Stress Day has proved really popular and gives our staff a nice opportunity to unwind. The day also promotes stress management - working in a hospital can be hectic at times but we don’t want to see staff letting things get on top of them.
“It promises to be great event and we’re very grateful to Cambridge Regional College for making it possible."
Emma Yeoman, beauty therapy lecturer at CRC, said: “I am very pleased to be involved in the Addenbrooke’s De-Stress Day. Our students are currently studying for Level 3 NVQ in beauty therapy at the college. This sort of experience will help them in both demonstrating and enhancing their skills in delivering professional beauty treatments. It will also prove beneficial in helping them hone their skills in dealing with clients and perfecting their customer services skills".
