Changes to visitor car parking charges from 01 April 2011

30 March 2011

From 01 April 2011 new charges will be introduced for visitors parking at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals due to the recent national increase in VAT and rate of inflation. The good news is that the price of discounted tickets currently available to frequent and long-term visitors will remain the same; the 7-day ticket costing £15 and the 14-day ticket costing £25.

New visitor tariffs as from 01 April 2011 …

Monday to Saturday (7am to 7pm)
Up to 1 hour:                       £2.50
Up to 2 hours:                     £3.50
Up to 4 hours:                     £6.50
Up to 6 hours:                     £9.50
Up to 8 hours:                     £12.50
Over 8 hours:                      £16.00

Evenings (7pm to 7am)
£3.00 for any length of stay (remains the same price)

Sundays (all day)
£3.00 for any length of stay (remains the same price)

Will the cost for patient parking increase?

No the discounted rates for all our patients will remain the same …
  • Outpatient appointments, day surgery and A&E patients
£3.00 for any length of stay per 24 hours
  • Patients receiving treatment for more than two consecutive days
    £3.00 for a seven-day treatment ticket

Why are prices changes?

This increase in parking charges is a result of the recent national increase in VAT and rate of inflation.

All of our car parks are self-funding which means that no money intended for patient care is spent on parking. The income generated from car parking charges goes straight back into maintaining and improving parking and access facilities on the hospital campus including:

  • 24-hour campus security
  • maintenance of covered car parks that are well lit and secure
  • ensuring enough parking spaces are available for patients and visitors who really need them
  • maintaining the on-site bus station which is served by over 60 buses an hour
  • discounted parking tickets for patients and visitors
  • running of the hospitals’ patient courtesy bus
  • improving public footpaths and cycle routes
  • providing clear signage and road markings
  • improving disabled access and parking spaces
