Norovirus - Visiting restrictions

Please help us to protect our patients.

- Visiting times on all adult wards are currently restricted to 15.00 - 17.00 and 19.00 - 20.00.

- Two adult visitors per patient only.

- Children should not visit the hospital.

Dying Matters awareness week 14-21 May

Dying Matters is a 16,000-member coalition set up by the National Council of Palliative Care to support changing knowledge, attitudes and behaviour towards death, dying and bereavement. It aims to make living and dying well the norm.


Young diabetics needed to take part in region-wide Games

Young people with diabetes are being encouraged to take part in the first-ever Paediatric Diabetes East of England Games to be held on 29 August 2012 in Cambridge.


Additional wheelchairs for visitors have arrived!

New wheelchairs for use by visitors are now in place. ACT has awarded a grant of £40,000 to buy 66 coin-operated wheelchairs for the hospitals. These wheelchairs are said to be 'simple to use, easy to find, hard to steal and built to last'

Addenbrooke’s staff to provide blood tests at Cambridge supermarket

Addenbrooke’s staff will be on hand to provide blood tests at Sainsbury’s Coldhams Lane store from Monday 27 February.

 

The tests, which will be provided by phlebotomists from Addenbrooke’s, will take place in a private, fully equipped consultation room and offer the patients the opportunity to take advantage of an important service in an easy to access, convenient location.

 

Tracey Murray, Clinical Service Manager at Addenbrooke’s, said:

 

“We are delighted to join forces with Sainsbury’s in this exciting new venture.  This initiative reflects Addenbrooke’s aim to achieve innovative solutions for delivering effective and efficient clinical services within the community environment. This service will not only provide a convenient and accessible phlebotomy service but be a valuable resource to aid with patients’ care and treatment.”

 

David Gilder, Sainsbury’s Professional Services Manager, said:

 

“Customers increasingly tell us that they want Sainsbury’s to work with local experts to provide healthcare services so we are delighted to announce this partnership with Addenbrooke’s hospital. We know from feedback that patients really value the ease and convenience of having facilities like this in store and we are sure it will be very popular with the customers at Coldhams Lane.”

 

The new service will be available Monday to Friday with sessions running from 07.30 to 10.30 and 16.30 to 19.30. The service will operate on a walk-in basis, via a GP referral, with no appointment needed.
