Teenagers: Sexual Health Advice Centre (SHAC): This service is for young people, 19 and under. There is a drop-in service on Mondays (12.00-2.00).

Adults - infections and other GUM problems: patients are seen by appointment only – there is no 'walk-in' service for adults.

 

Clinic times: Monday to Friday: 0900 to 1300 hours and 1400 to 1630 hours. Please ensure you phone for an appointment.

If you have an urgent problem, please ask to speak to a nurse or a health adviser to discuss this further. Out of hours advice is available from NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 (24 hours)

Our services include:

  • Testing and treatment for genital infections.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of genital skin conditions.
  • Information and advice on all aspects of sexual health.
  • HIV testing and discussion.
  • Treatment and care for people with HIV infection.
  • A weekly young person's walk-in clinic including emergency contraception. Testing for Hepatitis B and C and Hepatitis B vaccination.
  • Free condoms and lubricants.
  • Support and information following a sexual assault.

 

If you would like to have a check for genital infections (including sexually transmitted infections) and do not have any symptoms, you can book an appointment with a specialist nurse.

 

If you would like only blood tests for HIV, Hepatitis B and C or syphilis, please book an appointment with a health adviser. They will also be able to help with general concerns about your sexual health.

 

Your visit will involve a discussion with a doctor, specialist nurse or health adviser. They will arrange for any necessary tests or treatments to be carried out. A health adviser is available to discuss any concerns you may have about your sexual health.

 

In the majority of cases, to save you further visits to the clinic, we will contact you if any of your results require further action. It is, therefore, extremely important that we do have an up to date method of contacting you.

 

The clinic is confidential. No information about you leaves the clinic without your permission, not even to your GP. Please allow at least one and a half hours for your first visit.

 

Males: please do not pass urine for at least three hours before your appointment.

 

Females: please ensure you do not have your period at the time of your appointment.

Open 0900-1730 hrs on weekdays. If you are exempt from prescription charges, please bring your exemption card or DSS authorisation.

Run by the WRVS is open from
0900-1700 hrs on weekdays

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care or the service you receive in your Addenbrooke's outpatient clinic, please speak to a member of clinic staff as soon as possible.
