About the ward

E10 is the haematology day unit where patients receive their care on an out patient basis. On E10 we care for people undergoing investigations and treatment of disorders affecting the blood or bone marrow.

  • The Apheresis team is also located on E10; they perform specialised procedures such as peripheral stem cell collection and plasma exchange

  • Many patients will have already received inpatient treatment on ward C10 but will continue to require treatment or review on E10 following their discharge

  • E10 and C10 work closely together and you will be cared for by the same group of doctors in both areas

Finding E10

Ward E10 can be found on level 10 of the hospital.

From the main hospital entrance: Upon entering main reception turn right into the concourse and bear left towards the lifts. Take the lift or the stairs directly to level 10. Turn right out of the lift and right into corridor. E10 is then on your left.

For security, there is an intercom at the ward door.

Please speak to the ward staff concerning discounted parking.

Staff

If you would like to find out 'who’s who’ on the ward, please see the ward notice board. It contains the names and pictures of the staff on the ward.

On your arrival

On your arrival to E10 you will need to report to reception and you will be allocated to a chair or a bed for your treatment. You will be introduced to the nurse who will be caring for you. Treatment times vary, your nurse will be able to give you an estimated time of your stay, but delays may occur particularly if we need to receive blood results before starting treatment.

  • You may bring a relative or friend with you but there is limited space available for them to wait. Once you have started your treatment we will be able to advise your relative / friend what time to collect you. They may wish to make use of the Concourse facilities on level two whilst waiting, or if it to be a long wait – some treatments can take several hours - come back to Addenbrooke's later

  • Please do not bring flowers or plants as gifts

  • To help us prevent the spread of any infections, we ask that all patients and visitors to use the hand rub at the entrance to the ward on arrival and on leaving
