The Audiology Department provides a comprehensive hearing aid service including several specialist clinics, seeing patients through each stage of their treatment from the initial assessment of hearing status to the hearing aid fitting and follow-up care. Paediatric to adult transfer clinic
Hearing therapy and assistive listening devices
The Hearing Therapy service is provided by audiologists who specialise in helping patients make the most of their hearing and hearing aids through the use of communication tactics, lip-reading and assistive listening devices. They work with the patient, their relatives and carers, hearing aid audiologists, Social Services Departments and Disability Employment Advisors to develop an individual rehabilitation programme based on the patient’s communication needs.
Paediatric audiology services
The paediatric audiology service offers children with permanent or temporary hearing impairments appropriate assessment and management in a family and child-friendly environment.
Tinnitus and Hyperacusis service
The Tinnitus Clinic at Addenbrooke’s was set up in 1985 to offer a range of modern therapeutic approaches for patients with troublesome tinnitus and/or hyperacusis.

Vestibular services
Patients who have problems with balance undergo careful medical and assessment. If it is appropriate, they are enrolled in a rehabilitation programme.
