Hearing aid service (both NHS and private)
Approximately 14 000 adults and 250 children are hearing-aid clients of the Department. An open-access hearing-aid repair service is available each day.
Hearing therapy service
Patients who have hearing impairment can have their disability assessed and an individual programme of rehabilitation created.
Paediatric audiology services
Children who have both permanent and temporary hearing impairments are offered appropriate assessment and management in a family- and child-friendly environment.

Tinnitus service
A Tinnitus clinic has been offered since 1985; it is one of the best established in the UK, and offers modern management strategies for this symptom.
Vestibular services
Patients who have problems with balance undergo careful medical and assessment. If it is appropriate, they are enrolled in a rehabilitation programme.
