Addenbrooke's Hospital
Research and Development
The Rosie Hospital
Professor Carlos Caldas (Director of the CBCRU):
“We are very excited about the new facility in Cambridge. We have brand new consultation rooms to see patients who are participating in clinical trials. The Research Institute will also be undertaking breast imaging within clinical trials and we have facilities for biopsy and sample collection for research. Our aim is to become the best breast cancer unit in Europe."
The build cost just over £2 million and took 11 months to complete. Funds were raised by ACT, through a number of major donors*.
The new unit will work closely with the existing Cambridge Breast Unit and will be jointly managed by the University of Cambridge, Department of Oncology and Addenbrooke's.
*The major donors were: Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust, Clare King Charitable Trust, The Dunhill Medical Trust, Mr and Mrs A Emerson, Evelyn Trust, Ms Audrey Martin and The Wolfson Foundation.
