There are three Consultant Surgeons working in the Cambridge Breast Unit. We work closely with our multi-disciplinary colleagues to provide accurate diagnosis and management of all breast diseases, including breast cancer. We offer a full range of breast surgery including wide local excision, mastectomy, sentinel node biopsy and axillary clearance. Where appropriate oncoplastic techniques are used to improve cosmesis following breast conserving surgery. We offer an immediate breast reconstruction service in collaboration with consultant colleagues in plastic surgery. We run a consultant-led service with support from experienced nurse practitioners and nurse consultant. The unit has well documented low levels of local recurrence following breast conserving surgery as well as mastectomy.
