The Oasis Centre

The Oasis centre opened in 2009 as an age appropriate non-clinical facility located in Abingdon House on the hospital site. The centre and access to specialist advice and support is available to all 13-24-year-olds diagnosed with cancer in East Anglia. The Oasis provides an age-appropriate space for young people where direct patient interventions including education, activities, counselling and related meetings can take place. It also provides a focal point for the teenage and young adult specialist team and most importantly gives the young people a place to meet others of the same age going through similar experiences.

Wallace Cancer Support Centre

The Mary Wallace Centre is located close to the hospital site on Red Cross Lane where they hold different classes, provide complementary therapies and support groups. They also have a support centre in the main hospital concourse which provides information about cancer together with psychological, emotional, and practical support. It is open to all those affected by the disease including those with cancer, their families, friends and carers.

Local services

Wig service

Some of our patients (but by no means all) are at risk of losing their hair as a result of cancer treatment.  If this does happen to you then wigs are available. This would normally be discussed before undergoing any treatment, and a member of staff will refer you to the local service if requested.
