Healthy eating for a healthy heart

Cardiology

Healthy eating can help us to

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Keep blood pressure low
  • Lower blood cholesterol levels
  • Prevent the build up of fatty tissue within your arteries

What is a healthy diet?

A healthy, well balanced diet is one which is based on the ‘eat well plate’ model. This plate model shows us the proportions that our diet should be made up of. i.e. plenty of fruit and vegetables and carbohydrates, such as breads and potatoes in comparison to small amounts of fatty and sugary foods.
