Having a cardiac event can be a very stressful time for you and your family. It has an effect on the things you do, and the way you think and feel.
Cardiac rehabilitation aims to give you all the information and support you need to make the best possible recovery. You will be seen in hospital by a specialist nurse from the cardiac rehabilitation team who will discuss your initial recovery with you and your family and help prepare you for the first few weeks at home.
What is cardiac rehabilitation?
It is “the sum of the activities required to influence favourably the underlying cause of disease, as well as to ensure the patients best possible physical, mental and social conditions so that they may by their own efforts preserve, or resume when lost, as normal a place as possible in the life of the community”.
(World Health Organisation 1993).
