Winter

    Wintery trees

  • Cold weather tends to shut down circulation and can make some people vulnerable to angina symptoms.
  • Be aware that heavier outdoor clothing and walking in adverse weather can significantly increase exercise effort.
  • Wearing a scarf in windy or cold weather can help to warm the air and therefore reduce angina symptoms

Spring

    Spring blossom

  • The weather is becoming milder and you may feel you want to get out for more walks or activities – remember start gradually and build upon this week by week.

Summer

    Summer crop

  • Hot weather especially combined with humidity will make your heart work harder even at rest.
  • Activity may make you feel tired more easily: think about the time of day that you carry out activities. Early morning or later evening is cooler.
  • If travelling it is advised to keep your medications in your hand luggage

  • Take more medication with you than you actually need in case you stay away from home longer than you planned

  • ECG’s are universally read so if you have received a copy take it with you

Autumn

    Autumn leaves

  • If you are experiencing general illness and fatigue do not try to keep up your exercise routine.. Viral illness of a fever impose extra work on the heart and circulation so avoid additional exercise which will only deplete your system further and impose strain. Rest is the cure - exercise is not advised until you have recovered.
