The camera is a "3dMDface" camera system. It uses multiple cameras to capture images of the face from ear to ear and under the chin to an accuracy of better than half a millimetre.
The camera comes with software that allows extremely accurate measurement (point-to-point and of angles, areas and volumes). The stereo images can also be mapped to data from the CT scanner to demonstrate the relationship of the bony structure to the soft tissues of the face - this is especially useful to surgeons planning reconstructive surgery.
