Help us to deliver better care
All of the staff of the John Farman ICU are very keen to provide the best care possible for both patients and their visitors.
The care we provide can only be improved if you let us know about things that we have got wrong (or right). We welcome any comments that you would like to make. There are several ways that you can do this, and these are described below. Your comments will be treated in complete confidence.
Speaking to a member of staff
Problems or complaints that need immediate attention should be made directly to a member of staff. If they are not able to deal with the matter themselves, the nurse looking after your relative will be able to advise you who the best person is to speak to and discuss this matter.
If your comments relate to the nursing care, you might prefer to speak to the manager or the senior sister directly. If this is the case, just tell the ward clerk (either by telephone or when you are visiting) and she will arrange this for you.

If your comments relate to the medical care, you should make an appointment to speak to one of the ICU consultants, or the Medical Director of the John Farman ICU. This can be arranged for you by the ward receptionist, any member of the nursing staff, or by ringing the John Farman ICU secretary.

The Visitors' Views Box
Attached to the wall in the John Farman ICU Visitors' Room is a red post-box.
Underneath this is suspended a blue plastic envelope containing note paper and a pen. You can use this to make comments that are either anonymous or not of an urgent nature.
The post-box is only emptied on a Monday, therefore it is very important that you do not use the box to make a comment that requires immediate attention (such as a complaint).
Note: If your comment or complaint requires immediate attention, please speak to the nurse in charge (see above).
Comments in writing
You might find it easier to write your views down rather than speaking to a member of staff. Please write to:
