Our prime function is to provide day-to-day technical support for dialysis equipment in the Dialysis Centre and on wards. We work closely with the Centre as a whole and provide a wide range of assistance in addition to the underpinning engineering support which aids efficiency and promotes safety.
Addenbrooke's has a large and busy Dialysis centre. The recent increase in treatment facilities and extended working hours has led to greater demands upon the equipment and a huge rise in workload.
This section provides essential technical support services to the Trust's busy Dialysis Centre. Support is given to patients both at the Centre and in the home. The team maintains 50 dialysis machines, and other associated equipment including chair beds, weigh scales and measuring devices. It also has a very important role in monitoring water-treatment plants throughout the Dialysis Centre, because the water that is used for dialysis must be of very high quality.
