At last count there were 45 dietitians employed in our department as well as dietetic assistants and administration staff. If you want to see if there are any current vacancies please look at the Addenbrooke’s vacancies page and the NHS jobs page
If you are thinking of beginning a career as a dietitian useful up to date information can be found on the NHS careers pages:
A dietitian is a protected profession, meaning each dietitian needs to have undertaken an accredited course and be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). This body regulates their practice. If you would like to find out more information about this and if your health professional is on their register please check the HPC website:
We have three dietetic assistants working in our department. They work under the supervision of the dietetic team to improve or maintain the nutritional status of patients as identified by the dietitian, and provide support for non-clinical responsibilities.
Shadowing
If you are considering a career in dietetics, we offer half day sessions once a month to shadow members of our department. If you are interested to do this then please fill out the form:

Please note, shadowing members of our department is popular and there may be a long wait before we have a free slot. If you do book a slot and are then no longer require it, please give us as much notice as possible that you won’t be coming so we can offer the slot to someone else.
Due to a high demand for visiting slots, we prioritise visits from people who are applying for a university dietetics course. You may also find the following websites helpful to visit:
