Overview:
This unit works from both Papworth and Addenbrooke's to provide diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the lung, pleura (mesothelioma) and rare mediastinal tumours (thymoma) and aims to provide the best radical and palliative care.
Facilities in the unit:
Multidisciplinary team working – PATHOS (Papworth and Addenbrooke's Thoracic Oncology Service)
Diagnostic services: Bronchoscopy, endoscopic bronchial ultrasound (EBUS), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), mediastinoscopy and CT-guided biopsy facilities
PET-CT
Definitive thoracic surgery including VATS and mediastinal nodal sampling
Radical 3D conformal radiotherapy, including IMRT and IGRT
Chemotherapy for lung cancer, thymoma and mesothelioma
Clinical trials for lung cancer screening, staging, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and biological therapies
Cryotherapy and endobronchial stenting service
