I am pregnant, what choices do I have and who can help me?
"It's your choice, but lots of people can help."
It is a natural thing for a girl or women to become pregnant and none of us would be here without it. But it is a physical and emotional shock for most girls or women, especially the first time. Most people believe that it is right that girls or women should have a choice whether to continue with the pregnancy, to keep the baby or have it adopted, or to decide to end (terminate) the pregnancy. In most cases, you will have enough time to think carefully about this decision. You might find it useful and comforting to talk with your partner, your family, including your parents, your friends and/or your doctor about this decision.
You can also talk to your local family planning clinic, e.g. The Laurels - Contraception & Sexual Health Service for Cambridge or us at SHAC, especially if you want to talk in confidence with experts. We won't put you under any pressure to choose one option or the other, but can give you enough information to help you make your own decision.
