The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Cambridge clinical research facility provides dedicated clinical research facilities for the conduct of ethically approved experimental medicine studies in patients and healthy volunteers of all ages.
Our facilities are located in two adjoining buildings, the Addenbrooke’s centre for clinical investigation (ACCI) and the Cambridge clinical research centre (CCRC), both are linked to Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust for emergency response and operate to NHS standards.
Outpatient, inpatient, day-case, specialist investigation and metabolic facilities are provided in six clinical research facilities (CRFs): maternal and child health CRF; clinical investigation ward for complex late phase trials; interventional investigation unit (including endoscopy); early phase trials unit; adult CRF and a metabolic translational research facility with inpatient, observational and body composition.
We operate Monday to Friday and ad hoc overnight and weekends. Governance and oversight is provided jointly through CUH and University of Cambridge. Revenue funding to meet annual staff and running costs is provided by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
