About nursing at CUH

We know the value of nurses and the crucial role they play in every patient’s care, and it’s that understanding that helps us develop and keep some of the country’s best.

Cambridge University Hospitals is proven as one of the UK’s leading hospitals for everything from maternity care, to surgery and specialist cancer treatment and that’s largely thanks to our nurses and healthcare assistants.

Skilled, dedicated professionals from all walks of life, CUH nurses are getting better all the time, with courses like acute trauma care, management and a host of Trust-supported degrees.

Join us and you’ll be given the opportunity to build the very best career possible, along with plenty of options for internal rotation to give you even more experience and challenges.

Take a look around the site to see where you could work, what it’s like to live in Cambridge and what some of the nurses who are already here have to say about their experience at Cambridge University Hospitals.

As a world-leading centre of research, we currently employ over 300 research nurses.  In 2013, the Trust established a Chair in Clinical Nursing Research at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine in conjunction with the Florence Nightingale Foundation with the remit of further developing nursing research capacity and capability here.

Professor Christi Deaton, who took up this role, is clear on the important message this sends: “When I came to CUH I was pleased to find so much support for nursing research, many nurses engaged in research, and many activities already in place.  This is absolutely the best place to be if you are a nurse who wants to advance nursing knowledge, and generate and use evidence to improve patient care.
