General information about parking at Cambridge University Hospitals

Parking space at Cambridge University Hospitals is limited and the nearby roads can get congested.

We encourage you to use public transport, taxis or walk/cycle, if possible.

A 'pay on foot' car park system operates at Cambridge University Hospitals, with patients and visitors paying to park in specially designated car parks.

All car parks at Cambridge University Hospitals have barriers at the entrances and exits. Ticket machines are located in each car park for paying and validating the car park ticket before exit. The system is very easy to use, just like many shopper's car parks in towns and cities around the country.

If you choose to come by car, please remember to bring some change for the car park ticket machines.

Security: will my car be safe?

All car parking areas across the site now have street lighting, and most are also covered by close-circuit television (CCTV) 24 hours a day. However, although the Trust will endeavour to ensure the safety of vehicles parked on the site, vehicles and their contents are left at the owners' risk.

Illegal parking

Addenbrooke's and the Rosie share a very busy site, and we cannot risk roads being blocked by illegally parked cars. The following car parking rules apply:

  • No parking on double yellow lines or yellow cross-hatched areas.
  • No parking on the grass.
  • Any vehicle parked on the Addenbrooke's site that causes a potential obstruction for emergency vehicles, will be physically moved and issued with a Civil Penalty Notice.
  • Only disabled badge permit holders clearly displaying the blue badge permit are allowed to park in Disabled parking spaces on the Addenbrooke's site.
  • All vehicles must be parked within the marked bays only.
  • On-site parking is restricted to 24 hours.
  • These rules apply 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • The owner of any vehicle that causes physical damage to property on the Addenbrooke's site will be liable for the full cost of repair/reinstatement of the damaged property.
  • Disabled permit holders parking within barrier-controlled Trust car parks are liable to standard car park fees.
  • Anyone who parks their vehicle in breach of the published rules is liable to be issued with a Civil Fixed Penalty Notice without warning. The current Fixed Penalty Notice Fine is £30 in the first instance if paid within 7 days.
