Infection control

Together we can fight infection

Clean your hands

We are working hard to reduce avoidable infections and to provide a clean and safe environment for patients, their relatives and our staff. We audit hand hygiene compliance monthly, with weekly spot checks.

MRSA

In 2010/11, we reduced MRSA bloodstream infections by 70%, down from 20 cases in 2009/10 to 6 cases in 2010/11.

MRSA 2008-2011

Our target for this year (2011/12) is no more than 7 cases (target set by NHS Cambridgeshire).

Clostridium difficile

In 2010/11 we achieved a 27% reduction in our number of hospital-acquired cases from 126 in 2009/10 to 92 in 2010/11.

c.diff 2008-2011

This year's target (2011/12) is a further reduction to no more than 85 hospital-acquired cases (target set by NHS Cambridgeshire).
