Infection control

Together we can fight infection

Clean your hands

We are working hard to reduce avoidable infections and to provide a clean and safe environment for patients, their relatives and our staff. We audit hand hygiene compliance monthly, with weekly spot checks.

Hand hygiene compliance March 2010 = 99%

MRSA

In 2009/2010, we reduced MRSA bloodstream infections by 31%, down from 29 cases in 2008/09 to 20 cases in 2009/10. In 2009/10 we had 66,613 inpatient admissions. That means that only 0.03% of inpatients developed an MRSA bloodstream infection.
