Hospital's housing vision
gets go-ahead

14 July, 2008

A £28 million key worker housing development for the hospital site has just been approved. It will comprise of four six-storey brick-clad buildings providing 100 apartments and a total of 292 beds for hospital staff. The buildings will also feature a heating system which uses an air-based heat exchange and Photovoltaic cells that convert solar energy into electricity.

Stephen Graves, Director of Corporate Development, said: "We welcome this news as part of the masterplan - the 2020 vision - for the development of the hospital campus. As well as expanding the hospital and research buildings on site it is equally important to provide improved and affordable accommodation for staff living on the site."

This accommodation build is due to be completed by the end of the 2009/2010 financial year and will be situated on the temporary car park opposite the CRUK multi-storey – the one that backs onto the long road houses.
