10 November 2008

Patients and visitors with mobility problems can get around the Addenbrooke’s site more easily thanks to a free bus service.

Launched this week, the Patient Courtesy Bus has space for eight people and is wheelchair accessible. The service runs every 20 minutes from the main patient and visitor car park to R Block, stopping off at Outpatients and Oncology along the way.

Brenda Hennessy, Director of Patient Experience and Public Engagement, said: “This new bus service will help patients and visitors with mobility problems get around the Addenbrooke’s site easily and quickly. We’re always looking at ways to make a visit to hospital as comfortable as possible and this regular and convenient service provides another helping hand."

Services run from 8.30am to 4.50pm weekdays. The driver can provide assistance when needed. This is the latest bus service to be provided by the Trust – H1, the Addenbrooke’s bus, goes from Trumpington Park and Ride to the site Monday – Friday.
