New role for Addenbrooke's chief executive
After nearly six years as chief executive, Dr Gareth Goodier will be leaving Cambridge University Hospitals in June 2012 having accepted a position in a major healthcare organisation in Australia.
Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie are in the final five at the “NHS Oscars".
The Trust is shortlisted for two awards, Acute Organisation of the Year and Patient Safety, at the Health Service Journal Awards, regarded as the premier NHS accolade. It’s the latest endorsement of work at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie, both having scored top marks in the annual Healthcare Commission Health Check for the second year running.
Dr Gareth Goodier, Chief Executive, said: “To be a finalist for two such prestigious awards is great news in what has already been a highly successful year for us. This will be the second time in three years we have been a finalist for acute organisation of the year. The patient safety award relates to the pioneering work being done by our central venous access team to reduce the rate of MRSA infections."
Winners will be announced at the five-star Grosvenor House Hotel in London on December 1.
Earlier in 2008, healthcare analysts CHKS gave us a new award for the best quality of care in the UK. Our Emergency Department is the best in the region for trauma, maternity services at the Rosie rank among the best in the country, and overall, Addenbrooke’s is one of the country’s safest hospitals.
