Sir Donald Sinden, Councillor Charles Nightingale (Chairman of South Cambridgeshire District Council) and Dr Mary Archer at the Legacy Ambassador reception
Well known for his distinctive voice and commanding presence Sir Donald Sinden will be seen as the public face of a new ACT Legacy Campaign which aims to raise awareness of just how much difference a Gift left in a Will to CUH can help in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of ill health for patients in the future.
Dr Mary Archer, Chairman of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Deputy Chairman of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, said: “We are delighted that Sir Donald Sinden has agreed to support our Legacy Campaign. An Ambassador programme is a valuable element of the Campaign and Donald, who is a well respected, well liked media personality, is the perfect person to front this new initiative for us.”
A reception to officially welcome Sir Donald as a Legacy Ambassador was held at the home of Lord and Lady Archer in Grantchester on Monday 6 July. Sir Donald encouraged guests to consider leaving a Gift in their Will to Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie and become Legacy Ambassadors themselves. As an Ambassador, they will receive a certificate and invitation to an exclusive Ambassador event, including a tour of the hospital to show them how their generous donation could make a difference. Guests included Councillor Charles Nightingale, Chairman of South Cambridgeshire District Council, Antony and Victoria Pemberton, Bob and Michele Satchwell, and patient Legacy Ambassadors, Jan Brownfoot and Matt George.
Sir Donald said: “I am delighted to be involved with Cambridge University Hospitals and Addenbrooke’s. I’m sure you will feel just as pleased and proud to be an Ambassador.”
