Major incident exercise
29 March 2011

08 March 2011

Some of our staff will be taking part in a major incident exercise on Tuesday 29 March 2011.

The Trust has a duty under the Civil Contingency Act to practice aspects of its major incident plan regularly to test our ability to respond in the event of a real incident or disaster.

About the exercise ...

The exercise will be based around a road traffic incident with casualties being treated in the Emergency Department.

If you are planning to visit the hospital on Tuesday 29 March please be aware that you may ...

  • see a number of ambulances parked outside A&E
  • see more people than usual in and around the emergency department; some may be wearing masks and decontamination suits (please don't be alarmed - this is all part of the exercise)

Although this is an important day for us the hospital will still run as usual with minimal disruption to patients and visitors. We would however like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience that may occur while the exercise is taking place between 0800 and 1300 hrs.

Thank you for your co-operation and please speak to a member of staff if you have any questions or queries on this day.
