New Year honour for Richard Howe
Richard Howe, retired executive director at Cambridge University Hospitals, has been recognised in the New Year honours with an MBE for services to the NHS.
Professor Patrick Sissons, Regius Professor of Physic and Head of the School of Clinical Medicine, has been knighted "for services to research and education in Clinical Medicine".
Cambridge University Hospitals has scored “good” in all three categories of the annual Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) assessment, which is managed by the NHS National Patient Safety Agency.
Each team, comprised of doctors, nurses, catering and domestic service managers as well as patients within the Trust, inspects standards across a range of services including food, cleanliness and patient environment, and privacy and dignity.
In the assessment, 87 per cent of NHS hospitals across England (1,084) were rated “excellent” or “good” for their environment, and 96 per cent achieved an “excellent” or “good” rating for the quality, choice and availability of food for patients.
A spokeswoman for Cambridge University Hospitals said: “We are proud of the services we provide and are always listening to our patients in order to improve their environment and experience while they are in hospital.”
