You are invited to our next Medicine for Members lecture on 16 February 2012 entitled ‘Violence – a role for health?’ by Dr Adrian Boyle, Consultant, Emergency Medicine. The lecture will give an insight into novel interventions that reduce the burden of inter-personal violence.
New Year honour for Richard Howe
Richard Howe, retired executive director at Cambridge University Hospitals, has been recognised in the New Year honours with an MBE for services to the NHS.
Professor Patrick Sissons, Regius Professor of Physic and Head of the School of Clinical Medicine, has been knighted "for services to research and education in Clinical Medicine".
Cambridge University Hospitals has come 26th out of 75 British public sector organisations – and is the highest-ranked hospital – in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work in the Public Sector awards.
Lynn Roberts and Oonagh Monkhouse attended a ceremony in London last Thursday, and were also delighted to accept a special Giving Something Back award on behalf of the Trust.
CUH won the special award for its Addenbrooke's Abroad programme, which supports staff in sharing their skills and experiences with hospitals overseas, and also for Think Green initiatives such as Swap Shop.
The Trust scored highly in a staff survey in terms of job satisfaction, staff engagement and staff being proud to work here.
The public sector award focuses on the Trust's commitment to staff training and development, in particular how it values vocational learning as well as academic knowledge. It also highlights our excellent staff benefits:
