The four new buildings, named after the local villages of Linton, Milton, Kingston and Newton, will be ready for CUH staff to move in by early summer 2010. They will contain 290 en-suite fully furnished bedrooms, made up of one- to six-bedroom furnished flats and two one-bedroom, wheelchair-adapted flats.

Doctors will be able to reserve one, two and three-bedroom flats, with a weekly rent of £140.50 per room, plus £10 for utilities; council tax is extra.

There are five and six-bedroom flats for nurses, key workers and support staff, with a weekly rent of £104.50 per room, plus £7.50 for utilities; council tax is extra.

Each flat has a shared open-plan living area and kitchen, with broadband and digital freeview TV and telephone points. There are lifts to each floor and secure door-entry systems, with lockable, controlled-access bike storage. Disabled parking is by arrangement.

The day-to-day management of the accommodation, including the issuing of tenancies, monthly rent collection, maintenance and cleaning, will be handled by Sanctuary Management Services, a subsidiary of Sanctuary Group, which currently manages 577 bed spaces on behalf of the Trust. Sanctuary also owns and manages the 214 bed spaces in Grantchester House.

The accommodation has been built by Bedford-based contractor SDC and incorporates "green" features such as solar panels, green and brown roofs, sustainable cedar external elevations and "brise soleil" sun shades.

Alene Campbell, head of Sanctuary Management Services, said: "Sanctuary is delighted to extend its working arrangements with the Trust with the development of these purpose-built, environmentally friendly properties. This high-specification accommodation will ensure that we continue to meet the needs of doctors, nurses, key workers and support personnel employed on the campus – each of whom is focused on delivering the aims and objectives of the Trust."

The company will soon be launching a website which will include online application, a photo gallery and details about open days. It plans to have a show flat available for viewing at certain times in the coming weeks – we will contact those who have noted their interest of these dates/times.
