Three photographers exhibit

27 September 2011

Three professional Suffolk photographers will be exhibiting their work for sale in our main gallery space on the corridor between the concourse and Rosie wards.

Graham Portlock

From a young age Graham Portlock, John Thompson and John Hansom were ‘hooked’ by photography and have used the medium to either aid their illustrative work or as an artistic form in its own right. In a few words each of them describe what photography has meant for them:

John Hansom approaches photography as an art form. ‘My camera is simply part of me - it is how I express my creativity; it is also an essential piece of equipment that I need to do my job as a designer, along with my sketchbook and computer.’

Aldeburgh

The graphic elements of our environment,  and great light are what inspire Graham. For him, ‘photography is all about observation - having the 'eye' for a potentially good shot that has gone unnoticed by others, and then interpreting it with strength and style, and without any visual distraction.’

John Thompson ‘has always had a passion for photography and strives to create images that merge photography and art. Pictures that are not just a record but show a spirit of the subject and fire the imagination.’

All work is for sale. 25% of sales goes towards running the Arts Programme
