Single Equality Scheme

 

After public consultation earlier this year, the Trust’s Single Equality scheme and action plan was approved by the Trust’s board on 26 May 2009.

 

The Single Equality Scheme and action plan sets out the Trust’s clear commitment to promoting equality and diversity and sets out the ways in which we plan to achieve our Equality and Diversity objectives.

 

It highlights how the Trust will tackle inequality and improve the circumstances and experience for our patients, public and staff.

 

The scheme and action plan replaces the previous race, disability and gender equality schemes, to fulfil its public equality duties under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000, Disability Discrimination (Amendment) Act 2005 and Sex Discrimination Act as amended by the Equality Act 2006 and also covers the equality strands of age, religion or belief, sexual orientation and human rights.
