CUH RealTime Partnership

Non clinical services

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and RealTime Health Ltd are working in a business partnership to develop the RealTime patient flow management system for hospitals.

RealTime is a 'live' bed state, patient tracking and discharge planning system which is used by operational, administrative, clinical and medical staff - particularly consultants, doctors and nurses. It works in conjunction with existing IT systems.

Unlike other bed management systems, RealTime shows where patients are in the clinical pathway not just which bed they are in. This helps to reduce length of stay and enables more efficient allocation of patients.

CUH is in the process of rolling out the RealTime system across Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals - following successful trials on our orthopaedic wards. RealTime is being used as an integral part of wards' daily routines and staff are impressed with how easy the system is to use. It is significantly reducing time spent on paperwork, allowing clinical staff to spend more time at the bedside caring for patients.

RealTime annual conference

The RealTime User Group is an annual conference open to all hospitals that use the RealTime system. It provides an opportunity for hospital staff to help shape the development of the RealTime system and share ideas about how to effectively implement the system in different hospitals and healthcare environments.
