CUH

Structure of the Trust

Innovation and excellence in health and care

The hospital management is led by the Board of Directors. They are responsible for all operational and strategic issues, business and finance and they meet once a month.

The Board of Governors represent our 24,000 strong membership of patients, public and staff. The majority of the Governors are elected by the membership. Our Governors provide a direct link to our local community and represent the interests of members and the wider public in the stewardship and development of the Trust.

Operational management: divisional directorates

All the clinical departments at CUH are clustered together into seven divisional directorates. Each division is headed by a divisional director supported by a deputy divisional director responsible for research governance and research strategy. The divisions are supported by three directors of operations reporting to the chief nurse/operating officer and the medical director.

Non-clinical services

The corporate infrastructure of IT, finance, human resources, estates and facilities, communications, corporate development and management, patient services and administration underpins the business of service delivery.

New roles continue to develop and support the operational structure of the hospital and the improvement of patient care, the patient experience and patient safety.

Being a teaching hospital

As the teaching hospital for the University of Cambridge, the Trust is home to academic and research departments. The consultants in these departments also hold honorary contracts with the Trust as part of the hospital's clinical services for patients.
