The application process

See your future with us

1. Enquiry from potential volunteer

  • Completes Enquiry Form
  • Application pack is sent out by email or post
  • Applicant completes and returns application form and health form

 

2. Does the applicant meet our criteria?

  • On receipt, Voluntary Services Office checks through the application form.*

 

3. Contact information is put onto database

  • VS Office takes up character references
  • Applicant makes an appointment for the CRB check

 

4. CRB Form is successful*

  • Applicant makes an appointment for an informal interview and induction

 

5. Interview by VSM or Deputy VSM*

Refer Volunteer onto chosen department, arrange start date with accepted named mentor / line manager of role

  • Discusses duties
  • ID badge
  • Volunteer induction pack

 

6. Volunteer begins 4 week probation*

 

7. Feedback

  • Volunteer works on the department feeding back to named line manager and/ or the Voluntary Services Manager. Volunteer is checked regularly by VS department staff and made welcome on the team.

8. Review

  • Any changes to the role or the volunteer agreement are fed back to the Voluntary Services Manager. The role is reviewed formally one year on, with continual informal communication from the Voluntary Services Department.

 

* If at any stage an applicant cannot be accepted for voluntary work, the VS Office will write and explain why.
