There were 59 nominations considered in November for the You Made a Difference award.

The winners were Hugh Morris, staff nurse in the Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) and Annabel Hale, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Haematology.

At a very emotional presentation attended by the patient's mother, father and brother, Dr Archer, chairman of the Trust read out the family's nomination which praised Hugh's care and dedication: " ... Hugh is a very caring man and has his patients' needs as his top priority. In our time (11 years) of coming to Addenbrooke's we had never met such a fantastic man as Hugh. We will always be grateful for the care and attention this fantastic nurse gave to my brother.

"We would like to nominate all the people who have worked with my brother over the years but in my mind Hugh is by far one of the best nurses ... and myself and my family will always hold this very special man in our hearts."

Annabel Hale

Annabel joined the Trust in 2008 and is responsible for the receiving, labelling, booking in and processing of blood samples; collecting and processing samples from Oncology; monitoring equipment and checking on the blood fridges around the Trust.

She received her nomination from a colleague who praised Annabel's commitment and impressive work ethic. He said: "I believe she is a great example of the Trust's values of 'kind, safe and excellent'. Annabel should be nominated for this award because throughout this very difficult time for the department, she consistently went beyond what is expected of her and is continuing to set a brilliant example to new members of staff."
