Dr Lynch joined the fetal medicine and obstetrics department in 2009 as a subspecialty fellow in fetal-maternal medicine. Before this, Dr Lynch worked in Dublin as an obstetric senior registrar.
Her current job role includes scanning women, making diagnoses, counselling, doing invasive procedures and supervising more junior doctors.
Dr Lynch received three nominations for this award, from fellow colleagues who all said that she is a supportive and caring member of the team who is excellent with her patients.
Amanda Harris, who submitted a nomination, said "Caoimhe is a good role model for all members of staff. She is caring, supportive and empathetic with the women we encounter within the fetal medicine dept. She will make a fantastic consultant".
Presenting the award was Trust chairman Dr Mary Archer, who remarked on how You Made a Difference has been the most embraced of our awards by patients and staff. She praised the fetal medicine department by saying "I would like to thank you all for the care and compassion you share with these patients. The good news is that many of them can go on to having happier outcomes next time around."
On accepting her award, Dr Lynch said: "Everybody has made me feel welcome. I'm really enjoying my time here and it's not over yet. I was not expecting it. It's such an honour to be awarded for work that you do as part of your ordinary daily activities. I'd like to thank my colleagues for their nominations."
Dr Sundeep Grewal
Dr Grewal is a foundation year 2 doctor who joined CUH in August 2010. He joined the oncology team in December where his primary responsibilities are to look after our oncology in-patients.
Dr Grewal is due to rotate from oncology in April. His next placement will be in ITU.
Sundeep received his nomination from a family who were so impressed by the level of care he gave to their relative during their final days, and also for the care and compassion shown to them.

An excerpt from a letter received about Dr Grewal was read by Dr Archer: "I wish to commend in the highest possible terms the standard of professional care provided to my wife by Dr Grewal. I am convinced that without Dr Grewal's efforts and skill on that first night when he managed to stabilise her condition, we would have lost five valuable days of building acceptance of our loss. For that I and my family owe him an immense debt of gratitude."
The nomination read, "Sundeep looked after my Dad and our family so well. My Dad hated doctors yet he liked Sundeep. He said he was the best doctor he had ever had and if anyone deserves this award it is him."
Sundeep, who accepted his award after just finishing a night shift, said: "I'm suitably embarrassed and really tired. All of my colleagues have been so supportive and I have had excellent training throughout my time here."
Sundeep's sister Supreet was at the ceremony to see him collect his award. She said: "We are so proud of him. It may sound twee but making a difference is the reason why he became a doctor and it's nice that he is being recognised already for that."
