Commercial trials are studies sponsored and funded by pharmaceutical companies or biotech industry for commercial purposes. The information presented here is for this type of trial only.
Sometimes commercial organisations support work through funding or otherwise that is for public benefit. These projects do not come under commercial research remit and are considered as non-commercial research. Clinical Trials involving commercial sponsorship have slightly different requirements, mostly concerning contractual issues
Early engagement with the R&D department is recommended, especially as recruitment to these commercial contracts is subject to NIHR reporting metric criteria.
Please note - Commercial studies are now subject to the new HRA approval process
