You can expect your hospital environment to be kept clean and tidy. We employ trained staff to clean wards, clinics and other areas of the hospital. The cleaning of clinical areas is overseen by senior clinical nurses (our 'modern matrons'). If you think something needs cleaning please ask a member of staff - they should attend to it as soon as possible.
To help reduce healthcare associated infections we routinely screen elective, emergency and day case patients for MRSA. This is so that we can find out if you are carrying MRSA harmlessly on your skin or up your nose before you have an operation, an outpatient treatment, or when you are admitted to hospital. This then allows us to plan your care more effectively.
