Media centre

CUH is keen to promote the work of our world-renowned hospitals, Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie, in the media, and we aim to respond positively and openly to all reasonable media requests

Media

It is extremely important that journalists and TV production companies contact the CUH communications team in the first instance as we are in the best position to find the information you need quickly or provide an authoritative source for your story.

Feel free to talk to us about possible feature and programme ideas.

  • We deal with a wide range of media requests including providing clinical experts for comment on health-related issues
  • providing case studies subject to patient consent
  • condition checks
  • overseeing filming relevant to the work of the Trust
  • providing media support during a major incident

The Trust reserves the right to decline media requests where these conflict with operational requirements, our duty to respect patient and staff confidentiality or the long-term interests of the Trust.

Patients, parents and families

We frequently receive requests from media wanting to film or take photographs in the hospital. No patient will be involved without their explicit consent or that of their family or guardian. No children will be involved unless their parents or legal guardians agree. A member of the press office will explain exactly what the photographs, footage or interview will be used for. If you have any questions about any of this please contact us.

If we wish to reuse a photograph or film footage, we will ask the patient's permission again. However, if the photos or footage are taken by an outside organisation we will not be able to control reuse. We will discuss with the patient whether this would be the case.

If  would you like to use your own consent forms you must first discuss them with the press office so we can make sure they are suitable. If you would like to talk about any of these issues you can contact the press office.

VIP visits

We are happy to consider visits from VIPs, celebrities and charities. However, consent must be given from CUH ahead of any visit and may need to be sought from patients ahead of any visit. To ensure the safety of our patients, visitors will be accompanied at all times by appropriate CUH staff.  Please contact the press office for more information.
