The National Institute for Health Research is leading a drive to make the NHS one of the leading biomedical research organisations in the world.
We are proud that they have chosen the Trust and our partner, the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine to create one of their Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centres and to put Cambridge in the vanguard of this drive.
It is the combination of our leading University Hospital, our partners on the unique Cambridge Biomedical Campus, and the world-leading scientific institutions of the wider Cambridge regional biomedical cluster which makes this possible.

The NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre is, on the one hand a virtual collaboration between the academics researchers of the University of Cambridge and the clinicians of the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust looking towards the future of medicine.
On the other hand it is a very practical and tangible organisation where experimental medicine projects meet the very patients who could benefit from their success. We hope that our substantial research infrastructure, skilled staff, solid financing and excellent working environment will attract leading researchers from around the world to join our efforts.
