The Addenbrooke's Clinical Research Facility can provide a wide range of equipment and services, both on the wards and in neighbouring technical facilities elsewhere in the hospital.

 

On the wards

 

Equipment is available to support patients involved a range of clinical research studies. This includes experimental medicine, observational studies, epidemiological studies and clinical trials, including clinical trials of investigational medicinal products

  • The CRF has equipment for ultrasound – Toshiba 6000
  •  

  • An ophthalmology suite is available and has been used, for example, to study age-related macular degeneration

  • We are fully equipped to perform research Endoscopy – upper and lower
  •  

  • Specialist equipment is available in the CRF to support metabolic research
    > Specialist capabilities

     

  • Consulting Rooms have PCs with access to HISS and PACS

  • Dual IT systems are available (Trust and UoC)

 

In the labs

 

In addition to equipment on its own wards, the Addenbrooke's Clinical Research Centre also provides access for researchers to a range of equipment throughout the Hospital. These facilities are constantly being augmented, but currently include:

  • MRI Core Facility
    Located within Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre
    > MRI Core
