The Rosie Extension - June construction update

Main extension

Excellent progress has been made with the concrete structure during June. The ground floor and second floor slabs have been poured and work is well underway to form the supporting columns for the third floor. Over the next 2-3 weeks the third floor slab will be formed.

A development to be proud of ...

"The Rosie Hospital is a fantastic facility of which we are very proud, but it is busy, particularly with mums in labour, those who need ante-natal care and with sick or premature babies. We have a wonderful masterplan for the whole campus, and this extension is the first testament to that vision. I would like to thank everybody involved with getting the project to this exciting stage."
Dr Mary Archer, Trust Chairman

"The Rosie has the fantastic reputation of being one of the best performing maternity units in the UK, but it has become rather overwhelmed by an incredible demand from our local population. This extension will bring all the elements together for a world-class facility which provides safe and effective care, promotes choice, underpins research and education and leaves a legacy for future generations."
Mr Gerry Hackett, Divisional Director for Women's and Children's Services
