Community midwives

Rosie clinical departments and services

Community midwifery at the Rosie has recently been reorganised so that midwives are now working in eight teams. Each team is based in one of the county’s children’s centres and is focused on a small geographical area. The change to more locally-oriented teams has been designed to streamline communication and improve the continuity and quality of care received by pregnant women and their families.

Antenatal care

Antenatal appointments will be held at your GP surgery or the children’s centre. This is designed to provide a flexible service which enables women to have more choice about where to access care.

Postnatal care

The first appointment following the birth will be at home (unless this incorporates the first examination of your newborn baby, when you may be asked to travel to see a midwife trained to complete this assessment). The remainder of your postnatal care will be in the children’s centre or GP surgery. Please ensure that you arrange transport to these areas if you are unable to drive yourself.

We work geographically therefore if you live outside of our geographical area we will ask any home visits to be covered by a midwife from the appropriate team.
