The birth of your baby is an extraordinary and life-changing event, the memories of which will stay with you forever. The midwife-led birth unit aims to facilitate a positive experience by providing one-to-one care in a relaxed, calm and friendly environment.

The midwife-led birth unit (MLBU) team is made up of midwives, maternity support workers, cleaner, and occasional student midwives.

Visiting times

For partners:

  • Open visiting
  • A maximum of two birthing partners are allowed.

For family and friends:

  • 16.00-20.00
  • Two visitors will be allowed entry at a time.

Please note: only a patient’s own children are allowed to visit.

 

Finding us

From within the Rosie

The midwife-led birth unit (MLBU) is situated on Level 2 of the Rosie Hospital and is well sign-posted and easy to find.

 

From the Addenbrooke’s Treatment Centre (ATC) 

Enter the ATC through the revolving doors (or press the intercom for access at night). Turn left and walk along the corridor until you see a slope on your right. Walk up the slope and through the double doors. You will see Lady Mary Ward on your left. Walk through the next three sets of double doors. The midwife-led birth unit (MLBU) is on your left. Use the intercom to alert the reception staff that you have arrived.

 

From the main Addenbrooke's entrance

From the main hospital entrance turn right into the main concourse. Follow signs towards the Addenbrooke's Treatment Centre and the Rosie Maternity Hospital. Walk straight along the 'Clown' corridor until you reach a left turn which is signposted 'Rosie'. Walk up the slope and through the double doors. You will see Lady Mary Ward on your left. Walk through the next three sets of double doors. The midwife-led birth unit (MLBU) is on your left. Use the intercom to alert the reception staff that you have arrived.

 

 

Parking information

 Visitors should park in the Treatment Centre car park or the main hospital car park.
